Under attack för att försöka rädda liv

Svar på tal efter nyheten att en av våra lokalföreningar, som delade ut överdosläkemedlet naloxon på brukardagen 21 juli, är under utredning av polisen.

Under attack for trying to save lives

Text about the news that one of our local user unions is under police investigation after they distributed naloxone during the International Drug User Rememebrance Day earlier this year.

Swedish Drug User Union leaders are under attack for trying to save lives!!

Despite Naloxone being fully licensed, this kind of ignorance and neglect of reason is a sad indictment of just how vilified the user community have become in specific areas.

It needs to be met with a unified response from the community making it clear that this kind of inhumane and unacceptable behavior/attitude is not acceptable.

If they are not going to treat us with due respect as they would any other group experiencing a public health crisis, understanding and meeting our needs and involving us in positive consultancy with regards to effective policy, procedure and legislation, then in actual fact they are part of the problem and not the solution.

Carrying on with blanket policies that are causing more damage than good, regardless of scientific evidence that contradicts practically every single policy, enforces the belief that this is eugenic in practice and a serious breach of human rights.

If this approach is to be maintained despite every aspect of current approach demanding change, then we should at least be allowed access to life saving medications and all other utilities that allow us to look after our fallen.

Even in War there are restrictions and morals laid out in the Geneva Convention but I guess that the human rights outlined in the Geneva Convention don't count in this particular so called 'War On Drugs', where people are nothing more than collateral damage in the fight for power, greed, ownership, control, and white supremacy.

There can be no resolve, history has shown us that.

I'm getting really sick and tired of sitting in shadows watching my community take a beating out there, while the powers that be shine the light and attract all the divisive attention towards everything they can to justify their actions.

We are dying out here in the shadows, time to relight the fires I reckon.
